Wow, it's 3:30 in the morning and I can't fall asleep! My body's tired but my brain won't turn off. I've tried wearing it down with the tedious task of uploading and captioning a bunch of pictures of my trip to Ireland but alas, I'm awake. Maybe I stayed up late a few too many nights playing Metroid Prime 3, or maybe it's the stresses of my new job. I don't know.
On Aug 11, sixteen people (mostly teenagers) from my church in LaGrange, IL flew to Dublin and then stayed in beautiful Greystones for a week of volunteer repair work at a small college where a friend of ours was serving. We also were able to share music at a couple churches and serve at a food shelter. Besides that, we did a bit of sight-seeing and Amaryah and I even managed to schedule a few shows at some great venues :-)
I had a great time working alongside our teens and adults. We got a lot of important work done and met so many lovely people. After going to Bono's hotel (The Clarence Hotel), seeing U2's Zoo TV prop car (at the Hard Rock Cafe-Dublin) and performing in a church Bono occasionally attends (St. Mark's in Dublin), Amaryah and I had the great privilege of being INVITED TO BONO'S house! Take a look at the pictures... guess which one it is! (It shouldn't be that hard since I've put captions on the pics ;-)
Okay, so we were invited to Bono's house, but not by Bono. Yeah, I know. REAL funny Harmony! But still, we were invited by a young woman who went to St. Mark's. Apparently, Bono let's people graffitti the wall at his front gate. So that's as far as we got, but it was still cool. It was a rock'n'roll pilgrimage for me. Next stop: Graceland?
